Introduction
Your organisation may require you to register EASY with an authenticator app. You may then be asked to provide a code generated by an authenticator app when you log into the EASY, or , or when you perform other actions within the system.
This article explains the screen that you now see in EASY, and the steps involved in registering EASY with your authenticator app.
Installing an Authenticator App
You must install an authenticator app on your mobile phone before you can register it with EASY. There are several authenticator apps available on the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store, such as Microsoft Authenticator and Google Authenticator.
Your employer may prefer that you use a particular authentication app, and it is recommended that you should speak with your manager, or contact your IT colleagues, before you proceed. Where your employer does have a preferred authenticator app, they may have instructions on how to install the authenticator app on your mobile phone.
Please note that an authenticator app is a separate product, and it is not part of the EASY system. For installation instructions, you should refer to the guidance provided by your authenticator app supplier.
Registering your Authenticator App
To register EASY with your authenticator app you should follow the steps below. The authenticator app that we have used is Microsoft Authenticator, these steps will be similar in other authenticator apps.
1. In EASY, you will be presented with a screen similar to the one shown below. Leave this screen open as you will need it in some of the following steps.
2. Open your authenticator app on your mobile phone.
3. Tap on the +, or Add, button.
4. You may be asked what type of account you are adding. As EASY is work related, you should select the Work account option.
5. Select the Scan a QR code option. At this stage you may be asked to allow your authenticator app to use your phone's camera, select the Allow option
6. Using your phone's camera, scan the QR code that is shown in your EASY screen. This should result in EASY showing in the list of applications in your authenticator app.
The QR code is unique to you and can only be used when this screen is open in EASY.
7. Tap on the option for EASY in your authenticator app. You should now see a code, which is a 6 character number. Please note that the code will change every 30 seconds.
8. Now go to your EASY screen. Enter your password in the Password field. In the Code field enter the code that is showing on your authenticator app. Click on the button to confirm that registering EASY with your authenticator app has been successful.
If the code on your authenticator app changes before you click on the Verify button, don't worry the code you entered will still be valid for a short time.
9. When the verification process has been completed, you will receive an email similar to the one below and you will be taken to another screen within EASY.
Restarting the Authenticator App Registration
There may be times when you will need to restart the registration of EASY with your authenticator app. Where that is the case, you will need to contact your local system support team will need to apply a setting on your user account. The next time you log into the EASY system, you will be required to register EASY with your authenticator app by following the steps in the Registering your Authenticator App section above.
Please note that you must remove EASY from your authenticator app before you restart the authenticator app registration process.
