Introduction

When accessing the EASY system from outside of the NHS network, such as your home or some other location, you may see the Authorise IP Access screen.  This screen is used as an additional security measure to confirm that it is you that is accessing the system from that location, which you will do by entering three characters from your security word.  An IP address is what the internet uses to locate where you are and interact with you.

Authorising an IP Address

Before authorising an IP address, you need to consider whether you will be accessing the EASY System from that location just that one time or on a regular basis.

One Time Authorisation

There may be times when you are somewhere, such as a hotel for a conference, where you want access the EASY system, but you won't need to access the system from that location again.  To only authorise that location for the time that you are logged into EASY, you will need to click on the  field until a tick appears in the box.

Using a Location Regularly

If you will be accessing the EASY system on a regular basis from a location, such as from home, do not click on the  field.  That way the next time you access the system from that location, you won't be asked to verify that location again.

Authorising

After deciding you will be accessing the system from that location just that one time or on a regular basis, you then need to click on the Authorise button.

When you click on the Authorise button the following screen will appear for you to confirm that you wish to access the EASY System from that IP address.

To complete the authorisation process, enter the three characters requested from your security word (not your password) and click on the Authorise button.  The system will send you an email advising that the IP address has been authorised for your user account.
